I believe there is a certain responsibility that we have in ensuring the future beyond us - even without our presence - needs to be accounted for at some point.
Here is ‘the fantasy’.
Measurable, high-transparency charitable foundation that donates a fixed percentage of all personal and business income annually, including public reporting on where all finance goes and what outcome is provided.
A real, productive, and independent institution (studio, workshop, or small company) that employs and trains people from under-resourced backgrounds, creating actual jobs and skills rather than one-off opportunities.
Hands-on domestic humanitarian work including regular volunteering or project leadership in areas such as housing, food security, mental health support, or education access for people who are usually overlooked.
Fund and directly support long-term projects internationally, outside of Australia, focusing on one or two specific regions where sustained involvement (not just short-term donations) can create durable improvements in education, water, or livelihood.
Actively preserve and expand local, domestic artists by documenting, teaching, or platforming emerging practices, languages, stories, or art forms, ensuring they remain living rather than archival.
Create structured pathways for the next generation of artists through free or low-cost mentorship programs, shared studio access, grant systems, or skill-sharing networks that remove common barriers for emerging artists.
Permanent or long-running contributions such as public art programs, community creative spaces, local education initiatives, or infrastructure that improves daily life for residents.
Develop and release free or open resources (tools, knowledge, templates, or systems) that other people and organisations can use to create their own positive impact.
Build cross-cultural creative collaborations that result in real economic and artistic opportunities for people from different backgrounds, rather than symbolic or one-off exchanges.
A body of work and public presence that continues generating value after I die through endowments, open archives, ongoing programs, or institutions that produce positive outcomes for future generations.
