SYNOPSIS
ZFG (Zero Fucks Given) is a 2025 surrealist experimental film directed by John You and co-written by artist Joseph Decksam.
Set in an alternate near-future of 2033, the film follows The Protagonist, a young Australian artist who is fatally shot and, on the threshold of brain death, is subjected to an illicit underground procedure that extracts and uploads his consciousness to the internet.
Constructed through a fragmented, multi-perspective framework and a deliberately non-linear structure, ZFG immerses the viewer in the progressive disintegration of the Protagonist’s identity. Memories collapse, reassemble, and ultimately fuse into a disorienting continuum of images, at once strangely familiar and violently dissonant, as the boundaries between personal history, digital residue, and collective perception dissolve.
As the unstable procedure unravels, the Protagonist is forced to confront the full weight of a life only partially lived. What surfaces is not a simple recollection but a relentless questioning: What remains of a person once the body is gone? Which moments define a life, and which ones condemn it? Can a consciousness, stripped of consequence and flesh, still seek redemption? Through this fractured reckoning, ZFG traces an uneasy passage from collapse toward something that may resemble clarity, or judgment, or neither.
